[celery, basil, lettuce, beans, tomatoes, apples, and an extra share of heirloom tomatoes]

With the hurricane and extreme heat, I was worried this week’s pickup might not happen. But close to midnight the list of shares email came, absent fruit listings, and after work I went out to get them.

I’m not certain what type of apple these are, it didn’t make it into the share list. They’re crisp and tart, and would probably make an excellent pie apple. Something to keep in mind if it cools off enough to turn on the oven for that long. Or, if we just eat them out of the bag, I’ll still be happy. The celery is already almost gone—it’s a good snack. All of the heirloom tomatoes will become a salad with the basil, definitely. Some might be snacked first, too.
